Today I found a label for what I think has been going on with my brain in the past year. No, it’s not sheer ignorance, that’s two words. It’s “synesthesia“. During my day to day thinking about just about anything, I can just be thinking along, toodley-ooh and a word that’s running in my mind will come up in a completely unrelated arena (television, radio, etc.) at the exact same moment. The external word is always in a different context than what it is I’m thinking of. It happens every day, at least three times a day. And they’re not common words and can be phrases, people, places, or things. I’m sure everyone has some form of this and I’ve always been highly sensitive to words and um, other things. This recent thing with the synced words just makes it seem like the intensity level has gone up a bit.

I’ve experienced synesthesia while on acid. It was kind of the point, I guess.
